Alexis smiled down at Kristina, trying to console her. “The baby’s fine,” she assured.What happens next?
“Is it?” Kristina touched her stomach. “Or is it doomed from birth?”
“Don’t think that. I’ll help you raise this child,” Alexis asserted.
Kristina looked toward the closed door. “What about AJ? Does he hate me now?”
Alexis wanted to sugarcoat it for her, but decided it was best if Kristina knew the truth. “He’s with Keesha right now, honey. They have years to catch up on.”
“I don’t know if I can go through this without him. Doesn’t MY baby deserve a father? I know that I screwed up, but I’m scared.”
Alexis turned as Justus entered. “I’m going to get some coffee,” she excused herself.
Justus approached Kristina’s bed. “I wanted to check on you,” he said. “Despite everything that happened, you came through for us in the end. I talked to Skye. She decided not to press charges against you.”
“Thank you,” Kristina sincerely replied, taking his hand and giving it a grateful squeeze. “I really appreciate it.”
“I should see how Jerry’s doing,” he decided. “But, if you don’t mind, I’d like to see you again.”
“Yeah. I think I’d like that.”
