Back in Alexis's apartment

Carly walked up to the door. Before knocking she heard Alexis talking to Chloe.

''Chloe, I--,'' Alexis said.

'Damn,' thought Carly. 'If she spills the secrets, Sonny and I will be thrown in prison and Michael will be sent to live with strangers. I can't let that happen.' She rang the doorbell before another word could be exchanged.

Alexis answered. ''Carly. Come in. What brings you here this evening?'' she asked, sounding as real as possible.

''Oh, just dropping by. Wanted to know if you had seen Sonny,'' she lied. She sat beside Chloe. ''Chloe, hun, what's wrong?''

''Jax was attacked and burned. He may not puul through.'' she said, wiping her eyes.

''That's terrible,'' said Carly. ''I'll be sure to include him in my prayers.''

''You pray?'' asked Alexis under her breath.

''What?'' asked Carly, knowing what was said.

''Um, I said, Chardonay? Chloe, you look like you could use a dirnk,'' said Alexis, hurrying to the fridge.

Suddenly, the phone rang.
